So… dinner? || Jam

He laughed awkwardly, scratching his forehead with his thumb as he considers what it is that he wants to say. Dump Roy and come eat Italian with me comes to mind but he quickly dismisses it. As much he would love to say that, he knows that he can’t. Not with out her likely laughing at him in the face. “Well… as much fun as that is, and I think we both know I find it incredibly entertaining… I actually had something else in mind…” His mouth stays open for a moment, but no words fall from his lips. Well this wasn’t humiliating at all. He shakes his heat at himself internally, because this really shouldn’t be so damn difficult. “I was actually wondering if you were busy after work… I got one of those lame two for one things from my mom or whatever and I thought we could plan our next event in the take down Dwight series then… you know, away from the office and his impeccable and almost super human hearing.”
She was slightly confused for a minute. In the time she’d gotten to know Jim he had never really been awkward around her, and yet here he was. Tripping over his words and chuckling awkwardly, as if asking her to dinner was this complicated process. Wasn’t it though? She was engaged, and engaged women didn’t go out to dinner with co-workers, despite how dorky and cute they may be. Well, he wasn’t exactly asking her out on a date, just two friends having dinner together, that didn’t have to be romantic. In fact, she was sure she was getting ahead of herself, sometimes she let her mind spin these elaborate situations out of nothing. She smiles at him, nodding slightly. “Nope. I’m free.” Her thumb absentmindedly starts to toy with her ring, something she’s just chalked up to a nervous habit, that’s all it had to be right? “Plus, if not you’ll end up going with Michael and I can’t put you through that.” She nods and smiles at him.
